April 2017: The American College of Physicians (ACP) published in the Annuals of Internal Medicine that the new accepted protocol of acute and chronic low back pain management includes and endorses the use of conservative care (ie: chiropractic, massage, exercise, etc.)
A review of literature by ACP shows supporting evidence that people in differing stages of back pain are likely to achieve both short and long term benefits from chiropractic and massage. The review also detailed that less side effects, better outcomes, and subsequently great satisfaction may be found in using non-invasive therapy first.
Quality providers in these are are trained to know when and where these services are to be properly utilized. In addition, quality providers have the knowledge to assess each person they see to determine if non-invasive care will be the best or stand alone treatment, or if a mix of non-invasive treatment should best be combined with other means of treatment.
